Charles Rockwell retells stories that his parishoners have told and stating that just because you can't see your ownback does not mean it is not there as a way of making them true. The stories by Teddy Roosevelt are good and probably very informative and educational in that era. Maybe this book should have been titled "The Big Book of Hunting Stories" and left some of the non-hunting stories out. And my favorite,"The Dukes Children", just because they mention a deer and grouse does not make this a hunting story. However, we go from that to "Sporting adventures in the Northern Seas", where they are hunting walrus and seals. Another, "Catskill Mountains and the region Around" where Rev.
Lots of variety. Great collection of stories. This book is a collection of stories printed in many sources.
No hesitation in recommending this publication. This is a truly large volume of really great stories covering quite a few years. Purchase anytime but it will certainly made a cold winter storm much more welcome as you sit inside and travel via the written word.
If you love to hunt and enjoy the outdoors this is a great book. I bought the book as a Christmas present to my wife and me. I am about 2/3 of the way through it and am really enjoying it.
